ABSTRACT

The therapeutic touch is a therapy based on hand movements and detection of the energy field to correct imbalances. In recent years its use has potentially increased and has even been used by women with breast cancer. However, current studies in various countries have failed to demonstrate that the effect of therapeutic touch is superior to that of placebo. Therefore, it is important that health professionals take this knowledge into account to adequately advise women with breast cancer, who in many cases in the face of despair try all kinds of therapies. In this way, patients can be offered the best care, treatments and advice based on the latest scientific evidence demonstrated. However, it is also important to increase scientific studies in this area to examine the results obtained in studies with larger samples and identify their possible or no synergistic effect with other therapies. But today high-quality studies do not show that the therapeutic touch has clinical efficacy.
