ABSTRACT

During last 10 months, the association of urticaria with or without angioedema with COVID-19 has been documented. We describe four patients with urticaria and SARS-CoV-2. Two of them had a positive PCR test for SARS-CoV-2, one developed IgG antibodies and another even though the antibody test was negative, he had symptoms compatible with COVID-19, an acute inflammatory systemic syndrome and a family member positive for COVID-19. They were successfully treated with second and third generation antihistamines with complete resolution of the urticaria. Urticaria can precede or be concomitant to the classic COVID-19 symptoms. In hospitalized patients with moderate to severe disease and multiple treatments, drugs should be in the differential diagnosis as the possible cause of the urticaria.
