ABSTRACT
A key question in the context of simulation is whether the methods we use contribute to better student performance. Although a common idea is that in order to investigate this question we need many participants, single case design methodology allows us to do so with any number of participants. A single case design is a design in which we measure the same variable(s) from the same participant several times in a period. This article demonstrates an example of this type of design with one participant (N = 1) with fifteen repeated measurements of performance: five before, five during and five after a series of training sessions. Although the repeated measures in this example have an ordinal character (poor, almost satisfactory, satisfactory, excellent), the metrics presented in this example can be used for any type of variable of interest.REFERENCES
