ABSTRACT

The new coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, causes a severe acute respiratory syndrome. The rapid spread determined in March 2020 that it was a pandemic according to the World Health Organization. With a well organized health system, which implements preventive measures of isolation and disinfection, Cuba created action protocols for the treatment of COVID-19 and its convalescent state. Cerebrovascular disease is one of the neurological complications of COVID-19, associated to chronic respiratory disease, a sequel present in many of COVID-19 post-infection patients. The benefits of a respiratory rehabilitation program for patients with post-infection COVID-19 cerebrovascular disease need to be demonstrated. The objective of this article is to present a protocol for treating sequelae in COVID-19 carriers with cerebrovascular disease. An analysis of the different definitions elaborated by different authors for the individualized treatment of respiratory sequelae was made. For this purpose, it was carried out the review of the literature published from August to September in international databases, search strategy as controlled vocabulary. It is concluded that it is necessary to propose a personalized and comprehensive respiratory rehabilitation program aimed at respiratory and systemic recovery. A better quality of life of the patients and their social reintegration will be achieved with recommendations of the physical activity that they should do at home to maintain the results achieved in the program and its continuity.
