Paget’s disease of the breast. Case report

ABSTRACT

Paget’s disease of the breast is a rare malignant tumor, affecting both the nipple and the areola. Usually associated with an underlying intraductal carcinoma in situ or invasive, it can also be seen as a single primary lesion
Initially, it is very common to confuse it with benign nipple lesions, however, a good medical history and physical examination supported by the pathology and immunohistochemical studies, can make a prompt diagnosis and thus an appropriate treatment.
We report the case of a 48-year-old female, who presented a persistent lesion of the left nipple, whose pathological and immunohistochemical studies confirmed the diagnosis of Paget’s disease of the breast, associated with invasive ductal carcinoma.
