ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the prevalence and clinical evolution of patients with COVID19 in the Family Medicine Unit No. 1 of Cd. Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. Methods: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective design. The total registration of COVID-19 positive patients was taken from April to October 2021, obtaining 401 records, through the Online Notification System for Epidemiological Surveillance. Non-probabilistic sampling for convenience, with subsequent review of files and analysis through descriptive statistics. Results:From a total of 219,203 beneficiaries, 401 records were obtained, 30 were eliminated. A prevalence of 0.18% was calculated, with a mean age of 39 years and a female sex of 56.1%. The most frequent occupation was nursing (18.1%). The most affected geographical area was Casa Blanca (5.4%). Obesity was the predominant comorbidity: 18.1%. 87.9% presented headache, 3% pneumonia. A total of 12 patients (3.2%) required intubation. 41.2% required prolonged disability, 96.2% showed improvement, and 14 patients (3.7%) died. Conclusions: We consider that this study could serve as a basis for the analysis of new research related to COVID-19, in the State of Sonora (Mexico), because it provides essential data in relation to this disease.
