Thyroid cancer. (Study of 276 cases of thyroid cancer)

ABSTRACT

The thyroid cancer treatment is controversial, that is why the American Joint Committee on Cancer and the TNM Committee of the International Union, proposed a staging prognostic classification, to compare the works with different criterion and obtain an objective conclusion. This is a retrospective study for knowing if the proposed staging is adaptable to the regard population. The study base was in two groups: one of 244 biopsies, realized from 1990 to 1999 and the other-one of 277 these one assisted to consult. The cancer incidence is 6 to 24 for every million to insurance and these one had a prevalence of 61 to 244 for every million insurance. The bad factors of prognostic were comparing age, sex, tumor size, local and distant metastasis. A correlation in the bad factors and staging proposed.
