INTRODUCTION
Given the increasing prevalence of obesity and its comorbidities in the majority of populations of the American Continent, and its associated biopsychological, social, and economic costs, we acknowledge as a priority, the need to integrate all health care professionals of this Continent who are devoted to fighting this serious public health problem, in a common effort to meet this important challenge.
