ABSTRACT
The Provincial Information Center of Medical Sciences (PICMS) from Holguín offers excellent services. This research comprises the beginnings of the medical information system in the territory and aims at determining the role that this center has historically played. Historical-logical methods, documentary analysis and interview were used. The study refers to the characteristics that distinguish the information center, its scope, the insertion in pursuit of possible solutions to the main health problems in the territory and the conscious search for timely and truthful information for research in both, undergraduate and postgraduate studies.REFERENCES
