Ocular trauma: Palpebral traumatism with lacrimal route injury

ABSTRACT

The ocular trauma, represent an important cause of ophthalmologic visit. The eyelids, as protector element of the globe, are the first to get injured and of them, the most affect portion, when the lacrimal duct is involved, are the canaliculus, because its resistence and elasticity is defected. This article pretend, a simple way, to show the classification of such lesions, and besides, and to give to the first contact doctors the most correct form in which this patients most be explored, evaluated and in some case referred. The injuries with out involucration eyelid free border coold be close by the first contact doctor, eyelid free border injuries and those in the lacrimal tract most be referred to the ophthalmologic doctor to be repair and avoid in such way the eyelid deformities caused by retraction and when the case requires to lacrimal tract.
