ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the efficacy of the use of morphine for the prevention of post-dura puncture headache in pa-tients undergoing cesarean section. Results: The general characteristics of the population did not present statistically significant differences. Headache intensity in patients with morphine decreased compared to the control group. Conclusions: The use of prophylactic intrathecal morphine compared with placebo in pregnant patients undergoing caesarean section was associated with a lower intensity of post-dura puncture headache, especially at the time of hos-pital discharge and 5 days after the procedure.
