ABSTRACT

Objectives: To assess the evolution of patients diagnosed with plantar fasciitis treated with twin stretching exercises. Material and methods: observational, prospective, longitudinal, non-randomized study. Adults with plantar fasciitis treated by twin stretching exercises were included. Demographic and clinical variables were collected by means of descriptive statics with measures of central tendency and it was determined if the evolution was satisfactory by means of application of AOFAS scale. Results: the studied population was 86 patients, 79% was female. An analysis was performed according to the unctional evolution with AOFAS scale at the time of diagnosis, at the 3rd and 6th weeks, obtaining a statistically significant P of 0.000. Likewise, the total score of the AOFAS scale and its items were assessed with a means difference: pain, function and alignment in subsequent consultations, by means of means comparison presenting significant improvement in all the items evaluates and mainly between the third and first consultation with a statistically significant P 0.000. Conclusions: Significant improvement was observed in all patients after twin stretching treatment according to results obtained with the AOFAS scale application. The evaluation obtained in average pretreatment score was 71.1 and the 6th week was 96.
