Ethical aspects linked to digestive endoscopic therapeutics

ABSTRACT

Introduction: therapeutic endoscopy in Gastroenterology, as a branch of Medicine, shares the characteristic of being surgical, part of the clinic. The introduction of new therapeutic technologies in endoscopy, in the field of minimum access, presents new challenges for the endoscopes, which qualify the doctor-patient relationship and require a philosophical approach, accompanied by the need for analysis and subsequent evaluation of ethical aspects. With the purpose of contributing to the formation of a medical professional who is increasingly sensitive, humane and committed to social duty. Objective: to argue some ethical aspects related to the specialty of Gastroenterology linked to endoscopic therapeutics of the digestive system. Development: decision-making, in the field of therapeutics in diseases of the digestive system, can in no way be spontaneous, but rather carefully reasoned, based on learned knowledge, accumulated experience and current medical ethics values in society and in the historical moment. Conclusions: some ethical aspects related to the specialty of Gastroenterology linked to endoscopic therapeutics of the digestive system were argued, especially in centers that develop state-of-the-art technology, and should be part of the curriculum of all medical professionals and technicians.
