ABSTRACT

Introduction: The study of psychological well-being in patients with mental disorders is vitally useful, due to the fact that it predicts important mental health outcomes. Likewise, it has a valuable predictive capacity regarding pathological states, and the ability to manage stressful life events and their effects on behavior disorders.
Objective: Determine the level of psychological well-being in patients with schizophrenia at the Psychiatric Hospital of Havana.
Methods: A review of the clinical histories was carried out, and based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a sample of 97 patients was made up, to whom the CAVIAR Well-being Questionnaire was applied. A cross-sectional descriptive research was conducted, and a mixed research methodology, with a non-experimental design was used.
Results: Low levels of well-being were reported by 83, 50% of the subjects. Regarding the subscales that make up well-being, 86% of the sample had a low level of general satisfaction: 91% of material satisfaction, 87% of work satisfaction, 79% of personal satisfaction, 65% of sexual and couple satisfaction, and 80% of family satisfaction.
Conclusions: Low levels of psychological well-being were obtained in most of the spheres.
