ABSTRACT

Abnormal uterine bleeding is a pathology that is defined as any abnormality in duration, volume, frequency and/or regularity in menstrual bleeding. It is a very prevalent entity in adolescents, women of childbearing age, as well as pre and postmenopausal women; differentiating structural and non-structural causes; each age group has its particularities in terms of etiologies; therefore, the approach must always be personalized and with a staggered approach. Treatment is categorized into hormonal and non-hormonal, both for acute and chronic management; and each of them must adhere to the needs of each patient in terms of comorbidities, desire for fertility and personal preferences.
