ABSTRACT

Introduction: health education in Brazil is based on active methodologies, with contextualized learning. The adult brain learns with emotions (brain-based learning). In this scenario, learning based on clinical simulation and debriefing, carried out at its conclusion, play a fundamental role. Objective: this study proposes the translation and validation of the objective structured assessment of debriefing (OSAD) instrument into Portuguese to contribute to the training of simulation instructors to act in health education. Material and methods: the study consisted of three phases, namely: 1) reverse translation from Portuguese to English of the instrument into Portuguese with cultural adaptations; 2) evaluation by professors trained in clinical simulation, after translation and 3) evaluation of the translated OSAD after its application in a workshop specifically held. Results: the translation was based on the back translation with discussion of the authors and the translator; in the analysis by evaluators (judges) in the second phase (online forms) there were eighteen participants and in the third phase twelve, face-to-face, who validated the translated instrument through statistical analysis. Conclusion: the instrument will be useful to evaluate the debriefing, contributing to the improvement of health education.
