ABSTRACT

Tattoos are a common practice in the 21st century, its prevalence is estimated at one in five people. Tattoos are used to beautify or decorate the skin, sometimes they are used for therapeutic purposes such as camouflage scars, reconstruction after breast cancer or marking for radiation therapy. However, they can be complicated by infections, allergic reactions and induce skin diseases of autoimmune origin. We report a case of a skin reaction due to a red pigment tattoo, where we describe the clinical and histopathological characteristics.
