ABSTRACT

To be a teacher is to have a vocation for service, to be an example for students and to play an important role in society; Dr. José Rufino Díaz Novás has contributed to the development of health professionals; on him, the consecrated Professor Doctor and the man who has been founder, defender and follower of the ideas of the Family Doctor and Nurse Program converge.
In life there are unforgettable people; this is the case of Professor Pepín, as his students affectionately call him for the fruitful work that transcended the new generations, his contributions to the training of human resources in the health sector and especially for the contribution to the development of Family Medicine in Cuba.
