ABSTRACT

Although not all plastic surgery professionals are engaged or involved in clinical research, it is essential to integrate this role in the process of their academic training to keep up to date and thus, improve the quality and results of their practice. At present there are thousands of professionals in the health area; however, those who do research have other perspectives, opportunities and/or fewer limitations; since, they are in charge of updating the evidence and managing innovation. There is no doubt that research is a tool that brings any medical specialist face to face with reality. The aim of this paper is to show plastic surgery residents the benefits of integrating clinical research in their training, as well as to make them aware of the main limitations it represents.
