ABSTRACT

The thoracic drainage is the positioning of a sounding in the pleural space to evacuate air or liquid. It is necessary to maintain free the pleural space in postoperative to conserve the negative pressure within the same one, with the purpose of reexpander the lung. The accomplishment of this procedure is carried out by the physician with the collaboration of the nursing professional, which must be enabled to provide specific cares and to favor the quick recovery of the patient.
