ABSTRACT

Subcutaneous fat necrosis of the newborn is an uncommon lobular panniculitis, self-limited. The pathogenesis is unknown but the primary hypothesis suggest that local and systemic condition may induce subcutaneous hipoxemia and adipocyte necrosis. Hypercalcemia is a complication associated with significant mortality and morbidity. We present a case of an infant with no significant medical history and favorable evolution.
