ABSTRACT

The prehispanic collection Tzompantli of in Tlatelolco belongs to the National Institute of Anthropology and History in Mexico City was studied. It consists of 185 skulls and the presence of impacted teeth was investigated. Three impacted cuspids were found in two skulls.
A dental diagnosis and radiographic classification was made. The results show that the retention of the cuspids is not exclusively of our era, but has been around before America was discovered.
These findings provide the opportunity to discuss the etiology of this condition.
