ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the clinical-radiological results of the intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus under opened surgical treatment. Material and methods: It was made an analytical cross-sectional study of 21 patients of any age, sex and occupation with intra-articular fracture of unilateral calcaneus under opened surgical treatment by means of third plate of cane or reconstruction plateor special plate for calcaneus, was mentioned to them to make a functional and radiological evaluation (in search of arthrosis changes) of the involved foot and ankle. Descriptive and inferential statistic for the variables of the study was made. Results: The age average of 19 the 62 patients was of ± (of 16 to 80 years), predominant sex was the masculine one with 81%, the affected calcaneus that predominated was the right with 52%; with a pursuit average of 17 ± 4.6 months; a radiological consolidation of the fracture of 10 ± 2 months, the special plate for calcaneus showed improvement statistically significant respect to the third of cane and reconstruction (p = 0.0001), not thus showed improvement in the radiologic evaluation (p = 0.31). It is confirmed that the special plate for calcaneus has significant advantages functionally respect to the third of cane and reconstruction for the intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus.
