Virtual reality as a strategy for the treatment of pain during physical rehabilitation in the burned patient

ABSTRACT

Burning pain is one of the most frequent and difficult to treat complications due to various mechanisms that trigger it, several management strategies have been used, with beneficial results, an alternative non-pharmacological treatment of pain is the application of virtual reality, which allows a new form of distraction, giving the patient the illusion of immersion in a three-dimensional environment generated by a computer, which simulates the illusion as if the patient were physically in the place that at that moment is observing; this is a non-invasive strategy, at the head of the patient, which allows the patient to be more relaxed in painful situations such as healing, physical rehabilitation, position changes, etc.
