ABSTRACT

Introduction: To reduce disease transmission and mortality associated with COVID-19, planning for short-term preparedness should include the large-scale application of measures such as case detection and isolation, contact tracing and follow-up quarantine. Healthcare workers, many of them in the red zone, are often subject to occupational exposure from known or suspected sources of COVID-19 during specific medical procedures, mortuary work, or laboratory procedures. The Ministry of Public Health has implemented an Action Protocol that provides for the protection of the health of occupationally exposed workers who must undergo medical controls to detect early manifestations of COVID. Objective: To contribute for surveillance the health of sanitary personnel after occupational exposition to SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Material and method: It was review some literature about symptoms and clinical signs frequently in patients who were with COVID-19 to design a methodology for a medical assessment to detect early pathological effects related with the occupational exposition to SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Results: A form for a preventive medical exam was developed considering somatic and functional pathological signs that are usually caused in the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection and/or the psychosocial risks associated with work performance.
