ABSTRACT

Diffuse idiopathic idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (DISH), or Forestier's disease is a rare disease of unknown etiology. It is a systemic condition in which ossification of the anterolateral sides of at least four contiguous bodies, calcification of ligaments and entheses develops and is accompanied by spinal pain predominantly in the thoracic spine. In this case report we present a 70-year-old female patient presenting with DISH with complete spinal cord injury from c7 to distal on ASIA A scale following a fall from her own plane of support managed surgically with posterior cervical approach and instrumentation of lateral masses and decompression with good clinical evolution and partial clinical recovery to ASIA C.
