Epidemic Kaposi’s sarcoma and psicological response of the patient according its personality profile

ABSTRACT

The Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) is one of the most common malignancies in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Usually at the beginning of the infection, treatment is to stabilize the lesions. However, when delivering the news of a life-long disease to a patient, the impact and psychological response that they manifest are crucial aspects to achieve a positive integral clinical response. People who live with HIV can be better characterized by the “dimensions of personality” model, emphasizing the vulnerabilities of personality extremes.
We present a 33-year-old male with an extroverted-unstable profile and a revision of the behavior triggered by the situation.
