ABSTRACT

Hemangiomas are abnormal blood vessel proliferations representing the 4th most common tumor of the hand and are frequent among women in their twenties. The case of a 27-year-old woman with a lobular capillary hemangioma in the index finger that appeared during the second month of pregnancy is presented. There are reports stating that these tumors may change their course as a result of various factors such as estrogen or progesterone. They have not been much studied and it is important to know that even though they are benign neoplasias, their course may be aggressive and therefore appropriate treatment is mandatory.
