ABSTRACT

Introduction: patients with endometriosis suffer in their quality of life are challenging to manage, and there are few specific scales to measure it. Objective: to evaluate the quality of life of the patients before and after the laparoscopic-medical treatment through an original scale. Material and methods: with a retrospective study, the quality of life of forty patients with confirmed endometriosis, managed with laparoscopy and medical treatment, was evaluated with an original scale. Results: the proposed scale of 18 variables was validated before its application. Quality of life improved significantly after laparoscopic-medical treatment in 15 of the 18 variables studied, and the correlation coefficient of the scale with the degree of endometriosis was 0.81, considering it suitable. Conclusion: the combination of surgical treatment by laparoscopy and medical treatment improves the quality of life, and the proposed scale is helpful for its evaluation.
