ABSTRACT

The Critical Medicine journal, formerly the Journal of the Mexican Association of Critical care Medicine and Intensive Care (AMMCTI), is the Official Organ for Scientific Divulgation of the Mexican College of Critical Medicine. Shortly after the AMMCTI was founded in 1973 the members of this group considered the need to have a journal specialized in intensive care. With a strategic alliance with the Mexican Journal of Anesthesiology, the first issue of a medical journal specialized in intensive care was published in March 1975, with the name of Revista Mexicana de Anestesiología y Terapia Intensiva. The objective of this work is to make a historical analysis of the first intensive care journal in México and to recognize those who made it possible, 48 years after its publication.
