ABSTRACT

In order to answer the research questions: what activities do tutors with experience in university virtual distance education carry out on the platform, and what actions make them up? A qualitative study was carried out with a semi-structured interview of sequential type with six online tutors with at least three years of experience. Through the thematic analysis of the transcripts of a corpus of 96 pages with the inter-coder reliability approach, four activities were determined: psychoeducational, design, technical, and guidance; in addition to identifying specific actions that make them up, such as: understanding the student's characteristics, designing the course based on the follow-up they can give to the student and evaluating learning products. It is concluded that it is necessary to consider relevant teacher training processes for online tutors, as well as to explain classroom life from the knowledge base that supports the actions of the online tutor.
