ABSTRACT

Objective: to assess erectile function before and after vasectomy using the erectile function domain of the International Index of Erectile Function, IIEF-6.
Material and method: 90 patients who underwent a bilateral vasectomy during the period between December 2020 and December 2022 were studied. Patients who did correctly the routine controls, performed least one spermogram, and answered the IIEF6.
Results: a total of 90 patients were studied with a follow-up range of 4 to 15 months. The average age of the population was 38.9 years. 93.3% of the operated patients had children and 86.6% stable couple. Those patients had been considering vasectomy for an average of 19.8 months. The mean IIEF 6 score before and after surgery was 28.53 and 28.60, respectively. Considering the coital frequency during the last 4 weeks, the number of sexual encounters prior to vasectomy was 7.4 relationships/ month (range 2-16) and after surgery 7.6 relationships/month (range 4 -12).
Conclusion: based on the results of our analysis, no significant changes were observed in erectile function measured by the IIEF6 before and after vasectomy.
