ABSTRACT

Introduction: during the COVID-19 pandemic, person-to-person hospital training decreased for medical students in Peru. This exceptional circumstance led to the promotion of clinical simulation (CS) in Peruvian medical education, as CS provides a safe and controlled environment for students to experience realistic clinical situations. Objective: to provide a narrative of the SimGames experience, a simulated learning gamification approach, for UCSUR medical students in 2021 and 2022. Material and Methods: describe the activity with 53 UCSUR medical students, who participated in SimGames, a gamification strategy that included workshops, simulators, and virtual patients. Results: the results showed an active participation and an increase in the clinical competence of the students, evidenced through different evaluations. Conclusions: SimGames could be an effective gamification strategy to improve simulated clinical learning in medical students in Peru.
