ABSTRACT

Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory mucocutaneous disease of unknown cause. Clinically, it shows predilection for the lower back, wrists, and ankles, and is characterized by polygonal, erythematous-violaceous papules and plaques, with scales on its surface and white lines called Wickham’s striae. The prevalence of cutaneous LP is approximately 0.2 to 1% of adults worldwide and in children it is uncommon, accounting for less than 5% of all LP patients. The classical LP is the most frequently described clinical variant. We present a 7-year-old boy with a diagnosis of eruptive lichen planus and a dermoscopic description.
