ABSTRACT
Introduction: in 2022, during the COVID-19 pandemic, cases of hepatitis were reported in children without a specific cause, some associated with adenovirus 41F.
Objective: we present a case of childhood hepatitis associated with rotavirus.
Case presentation: three-month-old male, not breastfed due to allergy to cow's milk protein and without rotavirus vaccination. The clinical picture and laboratory tests were compatible with hepatitis. Rotavirus infection was confirmed by ELISA in feces and blood, ruling out other viral and metabolic causes. The patient evolved favorably.
Conclusions: hepatitis due to rotavirus is rare but should be considered in the differential etiological diagnosis of patients with hepatitis.
