ABSTRACT

Cerebral venous thrombosis is an entity with unspecific clinical manifestations and a presentation similar to other types of neurological pathologies; it's early identification and diagnosis can become complex. It is essential to carry out an adequate diagnostic approach with special attention in identifying associated risk factors and the real importance of diagnostic imaging. The treatment of cerebral venous thrombosis is not clearly defined and evidence suggests anticoagulation initially with low molecular weight heparin and subsequently with vitamin K antagonist or oral anticoagulants.
