ABSTRACT

Objective. Given the presumable changes in sexuality due to the influence of Cuban social projects and postmodernity, this research aimed to characterize the sexual behavior of 140 people from Havana with a partner for five years or more, and analyze it according to gender. Methodology. A non-experimental and transectional design of a quantitative approach was used. Results. Reliable and statistically significant results were obtained for this sample. It was found that in the sample predominate: ties of spouse and boyfriend/girlfriend with permanent cohabitation; heterosexual relationships, presence of vaginal intercourse, oral-genital practices, erotic caresses and kisses, fantasies and games; little search for offspring, despite little sexual protection; few children; conflict resolution strategies favorable to the bond. Significant differences appeared between men and women in the eroticism and gender holons, with evidence of patriarchal gender roles in the latter, but not in the other holons. All behaviors were reported with high satisfaction. Conclusions. The sexual behavior of the sample is characterized by the coexistence of traditional elements with the effects of Cuban social achievements and postmodernity. In order to find answers that explain the results obtained, it is recommended to carry out new explanatory and qualitative research.
