ABSTRACT

Introduction. The CENESEX service for sexual abuse and other forms of child abuse provides specialized psychological and psychotherapeutic care for sexually abused children and adolescents and provides psychological guidance for relatives of the victims, maintaining a close relationship with other medical and legal institutions. vObjective. The present work allowed to evaluate the performance of the service from 2019 to the first semester of 2021. Methodology. The analysis of documents was used, taking as a primary source of information the service charge sheets, the Annual Balance reports and Compliance Reports of the monthly activities plan of the Community Work department at CENESEX. Results. The sexual abuse and other forms of child abuse care service, showed a year-on-year decrease since 2019 with respect to the number of new cases received, related to the transition from a Service where attention was face-to-face to a remote asistant modality (via telephone and WhatsApp), in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusions. The different expressions of child sexual abuse constitute the main forms of child abuse attended to, led by lascivious abuse. There is evidence of a decrease in the cases attended, which does not mean that violence has decreased. On the other hand, it should be noted that the confinement imposed by the pandemic situation is identified as a significant risk for the occurrence of child sexual abuse.
