ABSTRACT
Introduction: colonic polyps affect up to 1% of the school age population, which usually cause lower digestive bleeding and pain; however, large ones can cause intussusception.
Case presentation: nine-year-old female patient, previously healthy. She presents abdominal pain of 40 days duration, associated with rectal bleeding in recent days. Through imaging studies, she was diagnosed with colo-colic intussusception (CCI). Hydrostatic reduction was unsuccessful, so reduction was performed by laparotomy. The polyp was subsequently resected by colonoscopy. According to histopathological report, it was a juvenile polyp.
Conclusions: CCI can be secondary to large or giant polyps.
