ABSTRACT

The Arterial Switch Surgery, if a ventricular septal defect is present, can be delayed up to the first six months of life, taking in consideration the risk of developing Pulmonary Vascular Obstructive Disease. We report the case of a patient with late presentation and unable to be corrected at the time of diagnosis, and who received a palliative procedure (pulmonary artery banding) and then was successfully corrected 6 months later.
