ABSTRACT

During the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic, pregnant women are a group vulnerable to complications throughout pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium. There are aspects of pregnancy that must be taken into account with the diagnosis and management of COVID-19.
Objective. To describe the experience in the clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 in obstetric patients, in the Intensive Care and respiratory observation services of the Hospital de Gineco Obstetricia no. 3 CMN La Raza.
Material and methods. Observational, cross-sectional, retrospective, descriptive and analytical study, where the records of patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and respiratory observation service were reviewed
Results. The complications that were reported were 12.7% with preeclampsia with severity criteria, 10.9% with oligohydramnios, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) 7.3%, pneumonia 1.8%, pneumothorax 1.8%, patients with sepsis. 1.8%, acute pulmonary edema 3.6%.
Conclusion. The clinical evaluation, the anamnesis and adequate interpretation of the auxiliary diagnostic tests must be factors to be considered by the health professional to arrive at an adequate diagnosis and treatment of this disease in the special obstetric population.
