ABSTRACT
Since the first report of pericardial tuberculosis by Rokitansky in 1852, an atypical form of presentation has been established, characterized by chronic pericardial effusion. Adenosine deaminase is essential for diagnosis due to sensitivity and specificity. Surgical management is based on pericardiocentesis and pericardial window. Pericardiectomy is reserved for constrictive pericarditis or recurrent tamponade. We present herein a 39-year-old male with an incidental finding of pericardial effusion, treated by means of pericardial window, receiving specific treatment.
