Implementación de un programa de apoyo ventricular externo en pacientes pediátricos

ABSTRACT

Patients on the waiting list for cardiac transplantation represent a medical challenge, due to a shortage of donors and consequent elongated waiting time.
Two cases are presented and compared. Case 1, A 15-years-old with dilated myocardiopathy. Orthotopic bicaval transplantation was performed. He had torpid evolution and fatal outcome. Case 2, Female 4-years-old with restrictive myocardiopathy, we placed external ventricular support “EXCOR”. Orthotopic bicaval transplantation was performed with an excellent postoperative outcome.
