Key words:

avulsion fracture of the medial epicondyle of the elbow, ulnar nerve injury, muscle tear in the elbow, tendon detachment in the medial elbow.

Fracture of the medial condyle of the humerus in adults is extremely rare, with only 1 to 2% of all elbow injuries in adults; it represents 20% of elbow fractures in children aged 9 to 14 years. The mechanism of injury is significant elbow valgus stress during a fall onto an outstretched hand, seen in sports such as throwing, gymnastics, or wrestling. Up to 50% are associated with elbow dislocation, ulnar nerve injury, and ligament and muscle tears. There is controversy over whether acute avulsion fractures humeral epicondyles in adults should be treated conservatively or with surgery.
