Doping as an ethical-social and health problem

ABSTRACT

Sport is a human activity aimed at improving the health and physical condition of the individual through natural means. Due to its competitive nature, it encourages people to constantly improve themselves, sometimes incurring in the use of doping. A documentary review of the published literature was carried out, from October to December 2019. Fifteen bibliographic references were examined with the aim of characterizing doping as a lacerating phenomenon of sports ethics and health. As a search engine, Google Scholar was used and articles were consulted in SciELO, Virtual Health Library databases, etc. Professional stress and social pressures make athletes demand more and more of their performance, to the point of resorting to drug abuse or doping. The dedication to service and justice, as principles of medical ethics are violated by doping, which threatens health, impacting greatly on it than any benefit associated with a victory.
