ABSTRACT

Introduction: The methadone is an effective opioid for the control of the pain for cancer, although it is a drug of second line due to its long and unforeseeable half life. However it possesses characteristic that make it indispensable in the therapy opioid like their power, long half life, effect NMDA, low cost. With their readiness in the Mexican market will face the challenge of rotating useful opioids as part of the sequential treatment with opioids. Presentation of cases: 2 oncological patients that presented cancer pain and one had to rotate from morphine to methadone to present intense adverse effects. This rotation you carries out in the patient’s home and with an equivalence of 6:1. Conclusion: These outlines allow to intend this rotation form for morphine to methadone in the Mexican population.
