ABSTRACT

Introduction: dengue is a viral disease with a growing incidence worldwide and a current boom in Cuba, which raises the need to investigate and therefore publish.
Objective: to characterize the Cuban scientific production on dengue in Scopus in the period 2011-2021.
Methods: observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, bibliometric study of the Cuban scientific production on dengue published in Scopus between 2011 and 2021. The variables year, typology, language, number of citations, indicators of the h-index family were studied.
Results: 176 documents were published, where 84,09 % were original research and 137 articles were published in Spanish. 3553 citations were received, the articles were published in 83 journals, 12 of them national, where the Cuban Journal of Tropical Medicine published the largest number. Collaboration was found with authors from 46 countries, where the largest number of collaborations were with the United States. The thematic areas with the highest number of articles were the Medicine categories (129 articles) and the Immunology and Microbiology categories (94 articles). the five most cited articles were published in English and in foreign journals.
Conclusions: Cuban scientific production on dengue in journals indexed in Scopus is marked by a decrease in volume and an increase in impact according to citation-based indicators. Original articles and articles in Spanish language prevail. This scientific production is located both in local and foreign journals, where the latter group the most cited articles, exhibiting collaboration with authors from various countries.
