ABSTRACT
Introduction: infectious processes represent a drawback in kidney transplant patients, which is why prevention is essential, among which prophylaxis for latent tuberculosis (TB) stands out. The objective is to know the prevalence of reactivity to the tuberculin skin test in suspected latent TB in kidney recipients.
Material and methods: case-control study of patients with kidney transplants, who have a tuberculin skin test (PPD). Patients are grouped into those with PPD with induration of 0 to 5 mm, 6 to 10 mm and greater than 11 mm. SPSS version 26 was used.
Results: 323 transplanted patients, information was collected from 278, of which 233 patients had an induration between 0 to 4 mm, 16 transplanted with an induration between 5 to 9 mm and 29 patients with an induration of 10 or more. Median age was 37 years, interquartile range 25-75 (IQR 25-75) 29-48 years.
Conclusions: the PPD test as part of patient protocolization helps in the detection of patients with probable latent TB that warrants prophylactic treatment according to the suggestions.
