ABSTRACT
This study comprises an integrative review on pain management in patients with endometriosis. Twenty recent studies analyzedusinga descriptive approach were analyzed. It is indicated that endometriosisisa problem associated with women's reproductive health, which generates pain
due to inflammatory, nocioceptive or neuropathic mechanisms associated with the uterine structures. Pain management is usually done through pharmacological, alternative and surgical means. NSAIDs, hormonal medications, opioids, and GnRH agonists or antagonists are recommended in pharmacological management. In the surgical plan, laparoscopy and hysterectomy are considered as the main forms of treatment. Complementary therapies, such as pelvic floor physical therapy, acupuncture, and cognitive behavioral therapy, have also shown promise in managing the complex pain associated with endometriosis. Advances in recent studies are described, sucha s management with drugs derived from cannabisor dichloroacetate (DCA), which are in the process of clinical trials.
