ABSTRACT
Cervicofacial infections are a condition of frequent attention in the practice of maxillofacial surgery and constitute a serious health problem that can endanger the patient's life. Parapharyngeal abscess is a deep neck infection that occurs by secondary spread from a primary origin, mainly from a peritonsillar or odontogenic abscess. Treatment includes drainage of infectious material through an intraoral o external surgical approach, or both. The objective of this work is to describe the surgical treatment of this type of abscesses extraorally through a submandibular approach.
